  • Pelvic Reconstruction

Many different types of cancer can affect the pelvic area in both men and women. Most of the current treatment protocols for these cancers rely heavily on radiation therapy. If radiation and chemotherapy fail, surgery is often required. Defects created in the pelvic and perineal area after radiation treatment can be very difficult to treat and heal. Dr. Brown is often called upon to perform flap reconstructions were he moves healthy, non-radiated tissue to the problematic area in order to achieve soft tissue coverage and wound closure.
